My blog dates back to 2008. My discomfort with keyboard typing and laziness too prevented me from updating this blog regularly. I penned my feelings, my thoughts, my memories mostly on paper whenever I could manage time. I lost a good number of my writings thanks to my disorganised nature. Let the remaining writings, scattered over here and there, find their destination here in my web space. And let me promise that I will go on updating this blog with my future writings, if that happens!

Bird of dusk
Day before yesterday, had seen the documentary feature film "Bird of Dusk" (সন্ধ্যের পাখি) written and directed by Sangeeta Dutta. Released in theatre in 2019, it is now streaming on Hoichoi. The docu feature is on the life and works of the acclaimed writer - director Rituparno Ghosh, the larger-than-life cultural icon of India. Rituparno Ghosh not only influenced the bengali films and Indian societal structures but also pushed the boundaries of queer politics, sexual identity and freedom of expression in India. The documentary, pegged on to a great extent his personal memoirs 'First Person' , is worth watching and will give you an intense feeling of contentment mixed with pain of the same intensity. Let me quote a small part of a report from The Telegraph for the readers...

Talent finds it own way to express itself. Below is the scanned photo of our belated mother. The photo was taken before her marriage when she was doing her graduation. She was 21 years old then. After the sudden demise of our mother on September 05, 2020, my elder sister made this photo a DP in her WhatsApp for some days. Smt. Jyothsna Ganji, one of my elder sister's colleagues, who happens to be an art teacher in the same school where my elder sister is teaching, took a screenshot of that photo in her mobile phone that time. It was a complete surprise until yesterday when Smt. Ganji gifted my elder sister a pencil sketch of that photo. Life is full of surprises indeed!! I do not deserve to make any comments on the pencil sketch as I am not an expert in painting. Let the viewers judge it. However, this pencil sketch is a treat to our eyes. Words fail to express our feelings. We are thankful for this priceless piece of art. We convey our sincere regards to Smt. Jyothsna Ganji.
